Definitions Hotels

Definitions Hotels, Hotel was a form of building, symbol, company or business entity that provides services accommodation lodging, meals and the beverages providers and other service facilities which all the services intended for the general public, whether they are staying overnight at the hotels or those who simply use of certain facilities owned by the hotels. Understanding this hotels can be inferred from several hotels such as the definitions below:
a. One type of accommodation that use part or all parts for a an accommodation, meals and the beverages providers and other services for the general public commercially run (Parpostel Ministerial Decree No. Km 94 / HK103 / MPPT 1987)
b. Commercial buildings managed by providing accommodation facilities for a the general public with the the following facilities:
1) Services inn
2) The service of meals and the beverages
3) Service luggage
4) Washing clothes
5) Use of facilities and the furnishings ornaments in it.

c. Public housing facilities for tourists with the provide room services, providers of meals and beverage and accommodation with the payment terms (Lawson, 1976: 27)

characteristics Hotel
The difference between the hotels with the other industries was:
a. Classified hotels industry capital-intensive industries and labor-intensive, which means in its management requires a large capital with the workforce that much anyway.
b. Influenced the the state and the changes in economic, political, social, cultural, and the security where the hotels is located.
c. Produces and the markets its products in conjunction with the the place where its services produced.
d. Operates 24 hours a day, without any days off in service to hotels customers and the society at large.
e. Treat the customer as king but also treat the customer as a partner in the business for hotels services is highly dependent on the number of customers who use the hotels facilities.

type Hotel
Determining type hotels is inseparable from the customer's needs and the characteristics or a properties owned typical tourists (Tarmoezi, 2000):
5) Based on this, it can be seen from the location where the hotels was built, so are grouped into:

a. City Hotel
Hotels are located in urban areas, usually reserved for people who intend for a stay a while (in the short term). City Hotel is also known as a transit hotels because is usually occupied by business people who use the facilities and the business services provided by the hotels.
b. Residential Hotel
Hotel is located in a large city pinngiran area away from the hustle of the city, but easy to reach places of business activities. The hotel is located in quiet areas, especially because it is for people who want to stay in the long term. The hotels itself is equipped with the a complete residential facilities for a whole family.
c. Resort Hotel
Hotels are located in mountainous areas (mountain hotel) or a on the beach (beach hotel), on the shores of the lake or a on the banks of the river flow. Hotels like this are primarily for families who want to rest on holidays or a for those who want to relax.
d. Motel (Motor Hotel)
Hotels located in the outskirts or a along the highway linking the city with the other major cities, or a in the outskirts of the highway near with the gate or a big city limits. The hotel was intended as a temporary resting place for those who travel by public transport or a car itself. Therefore, this hotels provides facilities for a car garage.

In terms of Total Rooms Hotel
According Tarmoezi (Tarmoezi, 2000: 3), from the number of available rooms, hotels can be distinguished:
a. Small Hotel
Number of rooms available a maximum of 28 rooms.
b. medium Hotel
Number of rooms is provided between 28- 299 rooms.
c. Large Hotel
Number of rooms provided by more than 300 rooms.

Hotel classification
According to the decision of the Directorate General of Tourism, Post and Telecommunications No. 22 / U / VI / 1978 dated June 12, 1978 (Endar Sri, 1996: 9), the classification of hotels is distinguished by using the star symbol between 1-5. The more stars who owned a hotels, the quality of the hotels. Assessment is done for 3 years with the the procedure and decided by the Directorate General of Tourism.
